Project Overview
The goal was to create a logo for a clothing company that was generated through Chat GPT. The clothing company that Chat GPT generated was called Maison Éclat– a high end expensive tailor shop that sells oversized coats, tailored jackets, sculptural gowns, artistic dresses, bespoke garments, and offer custom tailoring. Maison conveys an elegant, high-end feel. Éclat refers to brilliance, radiance, and standout luxury.
Design Rational
I wanted to create a logo using shapes that are hidden within the logo typography using tailor appropriate objects. With three different approaches, I decided to go with the bottom right sketch to build on.
Design Process
I first started with finding the dress shape that I wanted. Once I found the shape I liked, I had the idea of creating a scissor shape with the letter M. During this stage, I added a tie for the accent mark. In the final tweaks, I decided not to use the tie and used a needle for the accent mark instead. I also ended up changing the typeface to a san serif font and created less negative space in the M.
Final Logo
Along with the organic shapes, the typography and color palette also describe the brand’s aesthetics. The typography is a font called absolute beauty script which conveys its name and fashion. The color palette is a back, purple, and gray. The color palette also describes the brand’s aesthetics. This logo can be used on branding merchandise, the brand website, and can be three dimensional on walls.
